Resumo

Aedes aegypti is a species from Africa that is currently distributed throughout most of the world and has been the target of studies and research due to the dynamics of disease transmission that requires an intense relationship between the ecological and biological characteristics of the vector. The objective of this study was to characterize the scientific production with the species Aedes aegypti from 2006 to 2015. For this, a data survey was carried out in the database Scopus using the following key words: Aedes aegypti AND health AND Brazil. Various information from the chosen articles was considered, such as the type of publication, number of articles/year, journal, field of knowledge, impact factor, most studied disease, among others. A large fluctuation in the number of publications with A. aegypti was noticed over the years. Among the diseases transmitted by the vector, dengue was the most studied (92%). The journals with the greatest impact fator were not the most cited. It is noticeable that there is a multidisciplinary interest in the studies with Aedes aegypti and intensifying the depth of the research is necessary to reach greater successes in the diagnosis and treatment of the diseases caused by this vector and that kill thousands of people every year.
