Resumo
SEXUALITY AND POWER: A READING OF 1Co 6: 12-20 IN THE CONTEXT OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE
Going to prostitutes is, in Paul's view, an act of complicity in in maintaining Roman power. His reasoning in 1 Kor 6:12-20 is based on his analysis of Roman rule and their interest in the venal sexuality, which exploits people economically, socially, and above all physically. He is concerned with the dignity of men‘s bodies, but unfortunately not with the dignity of prostitutes and their bodies. Paul's theological vision is the soma Christou, the body of Christ. He contrasts the practice of the messianic community resulting from this vision with the violence structures of everyday life in the Roman Empire. A contextual interpretation finds in Pauline argumentation starting points for current debates on sexual ethics, freedom and responsibility, power, spirituality and justice.
SEXUALIDADE E PODER: UMA LEITURA DE 1Co 6,12-20 NO CONTEXTO DO IMPÉRIO ROMANO
