O BARCO DOS MORTOS: UM ESTUDO SOBRE O RITO DE CREMAÇÃO DOS VIKINGS

Resumo

A proposta deste artigo foi analisar o rito de cremação em barcos como comumente atribuído aos vikings, pois, nas pinturas, literatura e filmes é comum ver guerreiros ou reis sendo cremados em navios ou barcos. Mas isso seria resultado de uma visão romanceada sobre práticas funerárias ou realmente os vikings realizam tal ato. Levando isso em consideração a pesquisa buscou consultar fontes medievais oriundas da História, Literatura e Arqueologia para averiguar entre as práticas que formavam a Religião Nórdica Antiga, como teria sido o ato de cremação em embarcações, como ele era realizado e quais evidências possuímos a respeito.
